High hopes that Frederick will stay

»  Comments | Post a Comment

I read Pete Frisbie’s June 8 letter to the editor with a great deal of interest and curiosity. As the democratic chair, Mr. Frisbie professes to know a lot about Jeff Frederick’s election as chairman of the
Republican Party of Virginia. Funny, he wasn’t at the numerous events where Delegate Frederick spelled out his positive vision for the Republican Party of Virginia. He must be just reading from the
emails and posts of Jeff’s former opponent –— not exactly first-hand information.

In reality, Jeff Frederick won over the rank and file at the convention with a well articulated plan to move our party forward. He had a very specific plan for his first 100 days, which he has already begun
implementing. It was a convincing message welcomed by the delegates to the state convention, including 84 percent of the Prince William delegation. I would like to offer Jeff my thanks for taking on this
important job at this important time.

The real motivation for Chairman Frisbie’s interest in the internal workings of the Republican Party becomes clear later in his letter. He wants an early shot at putting a tax-raising democrat in Delegate
Frederick’s seat. To do this, Frisbie says that Delegate Frederick regarded being a delegate and state party chairman as a conflict of interest (Imagine that! Politician’s involved in politics!). Actually, this
was a lie on Frisbie’s part — Jeff Frederick never said there was a conflict of interest because there is no conflict. Rather, Jeff chose the welfare of the entire party over his own interest by stating that he
would not seek reelection if elected state party chair.

I hope that Delegate Frederick will not resign, but continue to represent his constituency as he has in the past — with steadfast dedication to his principles, even if it continues to drive tax-and-spend
Democrats like Pete Frisbie crazy.
