MANASSAS, Va. (AP) _ The Manassas National Battlefield Park has a new superintendent.

The National Park Service said Monday that Ed W. Clark of Roanoake has been named to the position. Clark has worked for the park service for 21 years and has served as the deputy chief ranger at Shenandoah National Park.

The park in Manassas, Va., is the site of two major Civil War battles in 1861 and 1862 and covers 5,100 acres. According to the park service, it has an annual budget of $2.7 million.

Clark says he's looking forward to preparing for the 150th anniversary of the Civil War in 2011.
