A recent letter to the editor by Samantha Ball of Manassas has finally sent me to the computer to write an e-mail.
Ms. Ball rails against Barack Obama, saying she is “ashamed” of her fellow Virginians for voting for him in the primary. She refers to him as “inept,...(and)lacking in wisdom,” and later gazes into her crystal ball to predict that Obama’s campaign promises will “shatter to pieces under his leadership.”
I’m not quite sure how she is able to see into the future and impart her wisdom and warnings to those of us who “buy right into it all.”
I have a suggestion to all who agree with Ms. Ball’s letter. Remove the references to Obama and insert the name “George W. Bush” instead. NOW the letter makes more sense! And one needn’t be a soothsayer to understand or agree with it.
As for Senator Obama’s lack of experience, granted he does not have executive experience, but then again, neither did George Washington, John Quincy Adams, James Madison, Dwight D. Eisenhower, John F. Kennedy or Abraham Lincoln when they took office.
George H.W. Bush had never held elective office until he became vice president. By the same token, several presidents who did have executive experience before they took office did not acquit themselves well during their time as president.
And Ms. Ball is “ashamed” of Virginia voters for selecting Obama in the Democratic primary? I think this says more about the author than it does about Senator Obama.
I don’t believe that there is concrete evidence for any of the meaningless predictions made by Ms. Ball, who apparently has the power to see into the future.
I don’t fancy myself a prognosticator, but I do know that our great country has suffered under the current president and his advisers so I will be voting for positive change in November.
