A court date has been set for the fifth man charged in a November-2006 stabbing death in the Manassas area.
Santos Espinosa-Reyes, 20, of 15382 Grist Mill Terrace in Woodbridge, is scheduled to enter a plea on charges of first-degree murder, criminal gang participation, destruction of property and grand larceny on March 27 in Prince William Circuit Court.
The grand jury indicted him on those charges this week, according to court records. He's also charged with destruction of property and grand larceny for the Nov. 18 20006 incident.
Police believe that Espinosa-Reyes was one of several men who beat and stabbed 21-year-old Charles Angelos Jr to death behind a row of town houses in the Manassas area on Nov. 18, 2006.
Witnesses said that Espinosa-Reyes, also known as Trigger, kicked Angelos while other men stabbed him, police said in court documents.
Espinosa-Reyes gave police a false name when they first interviewed him, according to court documents. His real identity was later discovered and he was arrested in October.
Police believe that all of the men involved in Angelos’ murder were members of the criminal street gang Mara Salvatrucha, or MS-13.
Four other men were charged in Angelos’ death.
Marvin Alexis Rodriguez-Barrera, 19, was convicted in October of first-degree murder and criminal gang participation and sentenced to serve 40 years in prison.
Michael Angel Ayala, 17, pleaded guilty in December to voluntary manslaughter and criminal gang participation. He will be sentenced on March 20.
Salvador Mauricio Elias Miranda, 29, pleaded guilty in June to a misdemeanor charge of assault and battery and was deported, prosecutors said.
Elias Isaac Quinteros Soriano, 27, pleaded guilty in July to criminal gang participation, destruction of property and grand larceny and was sentenced to serve six months of a five-
year prison sentence, according to court records.
