Our leaders and the mess in Iraq

»  Comments | Post a Comment

It turns out we went to war in Iraq for no real reason. We have been fighting there for five years. We plan to leave only when the Iraqis stand up. At the same time we bend over backwards to stop neighboring Iran from going nuclear. Our generals tell us that neighborly Iran is supplying weapons to the enemy in Iraq. Now Iran’s president and Iraq’s prime minister meet in the U.S. defended Green Zone (without flak jackets on) and have a “friendly, positive and full of trust” meeting. At this point, normal people usually throw up.

Senator John McCain feels so strongly about not losing the Iraq war, he now is willing to stay for 100 years. Conservatives say that was just a figure of speech to show Iraqis his determination. Sane adults call that naïve statement stupid.
