A pedestrian was severely injured while crossing Dale Boulevard near the Interstate 95 overpass Wednesday night, causing a four-vehicle crash, Prince William County police said.
Police said a 19-year-old Woodbridge man was crossing where there was no crosswalk around 7:38 p.m. and was hit by a 1997 Honda Civic that was traveling in the right lane of east Dale Boulevard in Dale City.
A 2004 Toyota Corolla stopped suddenly to avoid crashing into the back of the Honda, but a 1996 Ford Explorer and a 1997 Ford Taurus following behind weren't able to stop, causing a chain-reaction collision, said Officer Erika Hernandez, police spokeswoman.
The pedestrian, who was not wearing any reflective clothing at the time of the crash, was flown to Inova Fairfax Hospital with severe injuries, Hernandez said.
An 18-year-old female passenger in the Ford Taurus was taken to a local hospital with non life-threatening inju-ries.
No other injuries were reported, Hernandez said, and no one had been charged as of Thursday evening.
