A two-day operation targeting area drug activity at hotels in Prince William County resulted in more than 20 arrests, authorities said Friday.
Between Tuesday and Wednesday, Prince William police working with a multi-jurisdictional narcotics task force arrested 22 people and seized about three ounces of cocaine, three pounds of marijuana with close to a $6,000 street-value and more than $12,000 in cash, said Officer Erika Hernandez, police spokeswoman.
During the course of the investigation, police also seized ecstasy, firearms and ballistic vests, Hernandez said.
Hotels have a long history of being choice spots for seedy activities and police wanted an operation that would rattle that "population," said Prince William police Maj. Ray Colgan.
Charges police made, which range from manufacturing PCP to possession of marijuana, are all imperative in deter-ring dealers from setting up shop at local hotels, Colgan said.
"You have to hit this from the seller standpoint and the user standpoint," he said.
