Woodbridge man crashes car, passenger dies
A 21-year-old Woodbridge man crashed a 2002 Subaru WRX in Fairfax County, killing the passenger and severely injuring himself, police said.
The accident happened around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday on eastbound Franconia Road near Westchester Street, according to Fairfax County police.
Police said the Woodbridge man was speeding down the road when he lost control and spun into the oncoming lanes of traffic.
The car went off the road, striking a utility pole and a parked car in the 5200 block of Franconia Road, police said.
Ted Payne, 21, who lived on Eaton Place in Alexandria, died at the scene, police said.
The driver, whose name was not released, was taken to Inova Fairfax Hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.
Charges are pending.
Woman charged with stabbing family member
Tiesha Yakiema Milbourne, 23, of 13234 Armstead St. in Woodbridge, was charged with malicious wounding after allegedly stabbing a family member during an argument Monday night, Prince William County police said.
According to police, Milbourne is accused of stabbing the relative, a 30-year-old Woodbridge man, in his right thigh during an argument at her residence around 10:30 p.m.
Milbourne was held without bond. Her court date was not available, police said.
Object shatters car
window in Dale City
An unknown object was thrown at a 1997 Ford Explorer that was traveling in the 13100 block of Kerrydale Road in Dale City around 7:30 p.m. Monday, said Officer Erika Hernandez, police spokeswoman.
Police said the object shattered the rear window of the SUV, but that the driver was not injured.
Narcotics investigation leads to pair of arrests
Two area men were arrested on felony drug charges recently following a three-month investigation by the multi-jurisdictional narcotics task force, authorities said.
William Rene Caballero Ortiz, 22, of 9235 Jessica Drive in Manassas Park, was charged with three counts of pos-session with intent to distribute cocaine; and Jimmy Edison Mendez, 25, of 8503 General Way in Manassas Park, was charged with one count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine, said Officer Erika Hernandez, Prince William police spokeswoman.
Ortiz was held without bond and Mendez in lieu of a $10,000 bond. Each has a May 15 court date, police said.
The Prince William County/Manassas City/Manassas Park Narcotics Task Force conducted the investiga-tion.
Woodbridge man, 30, charged on five counts
Santos Ventura, 30, of 13592 Bentley Circle in Woodbridge, was charged with two counts of grand larceny, two counts of destruction of property and possession of burglary tools in the 7200 block of Gary Road near Manassas around 1:37 a.m. Tuesday, said Officer Erika Hernandez, Prince William police spokeswoman.
Police responded to a suspicious person complaint, Hernandez said, and a lookout was broadcasted.
Another patrol officer in the area saw a vehicle that matched the description that was given, Hernandez said, and the driver was arrested.
Ventura is accused of breaking into work vans that were parked in front of a business and stealing copper wire from them, Hernandez said.
According to police, entry was gained by breaking the windows of the vans.
No bond information or court date was available, police said.
Armed men rob
Dale City grocery
Two armed men robbed a grocery store in the 4200 block of Cheshire Station Plaza in Dale City around 6:58 p.m. Saturday, said Officer Erika Hernandez, Prince William police spokeswoman.
The store clerk reported to police that two unknown men were leaving the store without paying for groceries, Her-nandez said.
When the clerk approached one of the men, he implied he was armed with a handgun and left the scene in a white van, according to police.
Both robbers were described as black, between 29 and 35 years old, between 5 feet 6 and 5 feet 7 inches tall with medium builds.
One was wearing a blue knitted jacket, baggy blue jeans and black shoes, police said. The other was wearing a blue hat, a blue sweater and black jeans.
No injuries were reported, Hernandez said.
