… The Manassas Host Lioness Lions Club, which will present its third annual benefit "Spring Fling" fashion show on April 13 at 2 p.m. at the Carteret Mortgage Boys and Girls Club, 9676 Wellington Road, Manassas. The event has been very successful for the club and each year the proceeds have been returned to the community to further sight and hearing programs, high school scholarships and to benefit such organizations as Securing Emergency Resources Through Volunteer Efforts Inc.
As in the past, Peebles Department Store will provide fashions for the models to wear. Club members and family members of the club, the Manassas Host Lions Club and the Park West Lions Club, as well as students from Osbourn High School, will model the latest spring fashions. … Artist Mary Ria Hanna, who will exhibit her collages at the Manassas Campus of Northern Virginia Community College April 1 to May 2. In Hanna's hands, collage is an assemblage of materials, artifacts, images and original drawings to create a new whole that delivers an emotion or state of mind.
A reception for Hanna is planned for April 9 at 11:30 a.m. in the Colgan Hall exhibit space. The exhibit and reception are free and open to the public. … Manassas residents, who can watch the construction progress of the new parking garage going up in Old Town Manassas through the city's live Web cam. Everyone can be an "armchair sidewalk superintendent" by means of cyberspace by visiting
visitmanassas.org/camera/. The camera, which gives a sweeping view of the city, is mounted on the water tower.
… Susan Crites, a children's book author, who will be in Manassas on April 12 from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. to sign her book "I Love You More Than Rainbows" at the Manassas Borders, 11270 Bullock Drive. She is a resident of Warrenton.
Losers
… Motorists who fail to buckle their seatbelts or have a child not properly secured in a child safety or booster seat and face getting a ticket from Virginia State Police, who are conducting a "Click It or Ticket" enforcement this week to raise safety belt usage and save residents from death and serious injuries.
