A bad week for the Republican party

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Last week was not a good week for the right (holier than thou) wing of the Republican party. It began with Sen. John McCain’s favorite pastor, John Hagee, apologizing for having referred to the Catholic church as “the great whore.” Hagee expressed “deep regret” that Catholics might have found his comments “hurtful.”

The week ended with Mike Huckabee apologizing for joking about Sen. Barack Obama being shot at the convention of the National Rifle Association. Huckabee claimed that his remark “was in no way intended to offend or disparage Sen. Obama.”

Hagee and Huckabee are both bewildered that sane and rational people would be offended by their statements. Perhaps I can explain why: Hagee and Huckabee are a couple of bigoted, hypocritical, bible-thumping nuts.

I hope I didn’t offend anyone!
