U.S. flags allegedly burned in M. Park neighborhood

Manassas Park police and the Fire Marshal's Office are investigating three reports of American flags being burned in the Blooms section of the city, according to a police news release.

The incidents took place between May 9 and 12, the news release states, and all three flags were mounted to front porches of houses.

Two charged with malicious wounding using belts

Jorge Hernandez Acevedo, 23, of 8307 Georgian Court in Manassas, and Gustavo Torres, 22, of 8657 Madera Court in Manassas Park, were each charged with malicious wounding after police responded to a fight-in-progress in the 8200 block of Shoppers Square near Manassas Park around 2 a.m. Sunday, said Officer Erika Hernandez, Prince William police spokeswoman.

The two are accused of assaulting a 23-year-old Manassas man with belts, Hernandez said.

Police found the 23-year-old lying on the ground in a pool of blood, Hernandez said.

He suffered cuts to his face and head, she said. No information on his condition was available.

Acevedo and Torres were each held without bond and are scheduled to appear in court June 18.

Man charged with strike in back of head using saw

Victor Ray Newsome, 39, of 3603 Quantico Terrace Drive, Apt. 51, in Triangle was charged with malicious wounding following an incident in the 3600 block of Quantico Terrace Drive around 4:46 p.m. Monday, said Officer Erika Hernandez, Prince William police spokeswoman.

Police said Newsome struck a 54-year-old Triangle man in the back of his head with a saw.

Newsome was held without bond. No court date was available.

The condition of the 54-year-old was not available, Hernandez said.

Vehicle reported shot at on Nokesville Road

A vehicle traveling south on Nokesville Road was shot at around 10:30 p.m. Friday, said Officer Erika Hernandez, Prince William police spokeswoman.

Two men, ages 21 and 22, reported that the incident happened near Pennsylvania Avenue near Manassas, police said.

No one was injured, Hernandez said.
