Changing the immigration resolution (or “strengthening” it as Mr. Stewart calls it) contradicts the very decision the Board of County Supervisors made when it chose to alter the terms of checking immigration status.
A few weeks ago, Mr. Stewart claimed after THAT change, the BOCS decision resulted in an even stronger policy. If this is the case and the goal is to implement the policy, then there should be no reason to change it back. If this is not the case, then Mr. Stewart has lied to us and to the media.
To continue to focus on this resolution is a waste of our tax dollars and time. Additional changes put county employees and the police department at risk. There are far more pressing issues that need to be dealt with in this county.
Please let the dust settle so we can return to the usual business of solving neighborhood problems and rebuilding the sense of community we have lost.
