A man lost everything except his dog when his home at the corner of Norfolk Street and Damascus Drive near Manassas went up in flames Tuesday morning.
Endy Antonio, 32, had rented the house for only a week. Monday night was the first time he and Yooski, his American Eskimo, had slept there.
The utilities had not yet been turned on in the house. He said it was a cold night.
Before the blaze, Antonio went to a fast food restaurant to grab some breakfast. While he was out, NOVEC came to the house to turn on the electricity.
When he came back about 10 a.m., there were flames shooting from the house.
Antonio, an ICU tech at Prince William Hospital, and his dog were the only occupants. Crawling on the floor through the flames, he managed to pull the dog and himself to safety.
Prince William fire officials are investigating the cause of the fire.
Damascus Drive at Norfolk and Woodstock streets was closed as fire officials cleaned up the scene.
