At least two Manassas area schools are drug free.

Prince William police conducted two random drug searches at Stonewall Jackson High School and Parkside Middle School on Monday.

The department said the searches are part of an ongoing effort to see the schools remain a safe place for both students and teachers.

“It is important to send a strong message that drugs in the school will not be tolerated. We hope that these searches will deter people from bringing drugs to school,” said Prince William police Chief Charlie T. Deane.

Police officers who are assigned to regular duty at both schools helped police coordinate the searches.
