Police investigate fatal stabbing

The Manassas City Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred early Sunday morning.


Police were called to the 9600 block of Grant Ave. at about midnight after receiving a call reporting an assault, according to information released by the department on Monday.

When they arrived, they found Carlos Roas-Escalante, 24,of the 8300 block of Shady Grove Circle in Manassas,stabbed and unconscious in a parking lot, stated a Manassas Police Department press release.


Police called for emergency rescue teams, but Escalante died at the scene, the release said.


Police are looking for a 25- to 30-year-old Hispanic man who weighs about 140 pounds, is about 5 feet 6 inches tall with medium length curly hair, a medium complexion and a thin mustache, said Sgt Tim Neumann, Manassas police spokeswoman.

The Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause of death, the release stated.

Police ask that anyone with information call Manassas City CrimeSolvers at 703-330-0330. Callers do not have to give their names or testify in court and may receive up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
