Trio of events slated for Old Town on Saturday

It will be a fun-filled family day in Old Town Manassas on Saturday as three events take place.

The activities include the 33rd annual Edgar Rohr Car Meet, a sidewalk sale by the shops and galleries and an Old World Festival.

The car show will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Ford Model T on the lawn of the Manassas Museum, beginning at 10 a.m..

More than 150 classic Mustangs, shiny Buicks, sturdy Model Ts, street rods and many other unusual vehicles will fill the museum lot.

Sponsored by the Bull Run Region of the Antique Automobile Club of America and the museum, the show is free along with parking.

The fun includes a special play area for children, and families may take part in an automobile-themed scavenger hunt at the museum. Vendors will also sell car accessories for collectors and a "car corral" will feature new and collectors' cars for sale.

In celebration of the Model T's anniversary, enthusiasts will assemble and disassemble a Model T from component parts twice during the meet.

Awards will be presented in 19 different classic/antique car classes -- for street rod and modified, military vehicles, foreign vehicles and driver classes.

At the same time, merchants in the downtown area will host a sidewalk sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors can find bargains of all varieties, including women's and children's clothing, fine home furnishings and accessories, novelties, books, gourmet foods and prints of original art.

Echoes, the museum store, will join in the sale, giving visitors an opportunity to discover what it has to offer. The museum is offering a $1 discount on admission as well. The rain date is Sunday.

At the Old World Festival in the Loy E. Harris Pavilion, the entire family can experience Eastern Europe, Russia, Lebanon and the United States through music, crafts and a variety of food. It will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is an international education experience for children.

Also, the Farmers Market will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. in the lot adjacent to the pavilion. For the past 223 years, the open air market has offered the best local produce to shoppers.
