I-95 North night work

When: Aug. 3 to 6, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

What: Single lane closed

Where: I-95 north, from Exit 160, Gordon Boulevard (Va. 123) to Exit 161, U.S. 1

Why: Restriping traffic lines for traffic shift

Police: Onsite for motorist safety

I-95 North day work

When: Aug. 3 to 6, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Aug. 7, 9 a.m. to noon

What: Single lane closed

Where: I-95 north, from Exit 160, Gordon Boulevard (Va. 123) to one mile south of Exit 166, Fairfax

County Parkway (Route 7100)

Why: Grading, sound wall and bridge work

I-95 South day work

When: Aug. 3 to 6, 8 a.m. to 2 p.m., and Aug. 7, 7:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.

What: Single lane closed

Where: I-95 south, from Exit 166, Fairfax County Parkway (Route 7100) to Exit 160, Gordon Boulevard

(Va. 123)

Why: Bridge work or working on the left shoulder barrier

I-95 HOV day work

When: Aug. 3-6, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Aug. 7, 9 a.m. to noon

What: Single lane closed

Where: I-95 HOV, from Exit 163, Lorton Road (Route 642) to Exit 160, Gordon Boulevard (Va. 123)

Why: Barrier movement

Lorton Road (Va. 642) West day work

When: Aug. 3-6, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Aug. 7, 9 a.m. to noon

What: Single alternating lane closed

Where: Lorton Road (Route 642) west, from Gunston Cove Road to Silverbrook Road

Why: Bridge work

Lorton Road (Va. 642) East day work

When: Aug. 3-6, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Aug. 7, 9 a.m. to noon

What: Single alternating lane closed

Where: Lorton Road (Route 642) east, from Silverbrook Road to Gunston Cove Road

Why: Bridge work

Furnace Road (Va. 611) East or West day work

When: Mon. through Thu., Aug. 3-6, 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and Fri., Aug. 7, 9 a.m. to noon

What: Single lane closed (Flagger to direct traffic)

Where: Furnace Road east OR west, at I-95 overpass

Why: Replacing barrier, guardrail, asphalt pavement

VDOT is adding a fourth general purpose lane to I-95 in each direction from Route 123 just before the

Occoquan River to the Fairfax County Parkway. They agency said this relieve chronic bottlenecking and

improve traffic flow to and from the Springfield Interchange. Construction of the six-mile widening

project began in early 2008 and will be completed by late fall 2011.

BRAC lane closures slated for U.S. 1

The following lane closures are related to Base Realignment and Closure (BRAC) activities including the

Fort Belvoir Community Hospital.

U.S. 1 North night work

When: Aug. 2 to 6, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.

What: Northbound side of the road closed (traffic shifted to the southbound side where there will be

one lane in each direction)

Where: U.S. 1 North, from Gunston Road to Belvoir Road

Why: Roadway repair and restoration

Police: Onsite for motorist safety
