Before leaving for summer vacation, students in Rosemary Wolfe’s second-grade class at Bristow Run Elementary were selected to write biographies on Abraham Lincoln for the Time Capsule Reception for new members of the 111th Congress held May 13 at the U.S. Capitol.
Then, on July 23, Ronald Sarasin, CEO of the United Sates Capitol Historical Society, sealed reflections from participants, including Bristow Run faculty and students, at the Library of Congress.
The time capsule will be opened during the celebration of Lincoln’s 250th birthday in 2059.
A list of contributing congressmen and participating schools reflecting on the legacy of Abraham Lincoln can be found on the U.S. Capital Historical Society Web site, uschs.org/Content/207.htm.
Congratulations to these students and their teacher who have made history.
