Drivers bound for Washington this weekend won’t be able to use the High Occupancy Vehicle lanes north of the Capital Beltway.
The Virginia Department of Transportation will close the Interstate 395 portion of the lanes, between the Beltway and the 14th Street Bridge tonight, at 9 p.m. The lanes will remain closed until 5 a.m. Sunday.
Crews will be milling and paving the roadway and replacing signs, stated a VDOT spokeswoman in an e-mail.
Drivers will still be able to enter lanes HOV lanes on I-95 in Springfield until 2 p.m. Saturday, then at 4 p.m. the lanes will change directions to the north and drivers must exit at mile post 166 in Springfield.
The spokeswoman stated that signs will be posted to mark traffic pattern changes.
