Prince William County police on Monday were still hunting a man who beat another to death outside his Manassas area home.
Police said 34-year-old Sergio Alfonso was fatally attacked Friday evening outside his town house in the 8100 block of Community Drive.
Police named 21-year-old Deonte Donnell Robertson, of 8093 Portwood Turn near Manassas, a suspect in Alfonso’s killing. Robertson — who is out of jail on bond and lives just blocks from Alfonso’s home — is accused of striking Alfonso with some sort of object after getting into an argument with Alfonso’s 23-year-old wife, said Prince William police spokeswoman Erika Hernandez.
The woman is Robertson’s ex-girlfriend, said Hernandez.
No one was home at the house Monday, but dried blood stains remained on the glass storm door.
One neighbor who was shaken because of her neighbor’s death said police had recently been called to the home because Alfonso’s windshield had been shattered.
Police confirmed that officers were called to Alfonso’s home on July 28 for a report of destruction of property.
The neighbor, who did not want her name published, said Alfonso and the 23-year-old woman moved into the home sometime last winter.
Robertson’s court record in Prince William County Court is full of charges, including his most recent arrest on April 6. He was charged then with
malicious assault in an incident that occurred March 15, court records state.
That case has been certified to a grand jury that next month will decide to indict Robertson on the charges.
Also on his record, he was charged last December with two counts of assault and two counts of obstructing justice while making forceful threats.
He was also charged last October with assaulting a police officer and in June 2007, again with obstructing justice.
Police are asking anyone with information on the whereabouts of Robertson to call Prince William County Crime Solvers at 703-670-3700.
