A Gainesville man pleaded guilty Tuesday to inappropriately touching a 10-year-old girl.

Roy Arnold Fulbright, 58, of the 6000 block of Abernethy Lane in Gainesville, pleaded guilty in Prince William Circuit Court to attempting to take indecent liberties with a child.

The charge was reduced from taking indecent liberties with a child.

Prosecutors dropped a second charge of aggravated sexual battery.

According to court documents, a 10-year-old girl said Fulbright inappropriately touched her sometime between December 2007 and December 2008.

The girl told police that Fulbright had her sit on his lap while she was at his house. He then reached under her clothes and touched her, police said in the court documents.

Fulbright will be sentenced Jan. 21.

Prosecutors are recommending that he be sentenced to five years in prison, with all five years suspended and five years of probation.
