Battlefield High School's Interact Club wins Rotary award

Gainesville, Va. - For the first time, Battlefield High School's Interact Club, a group sponsored by the Gainesville-Haymarket Rotary club, received a presidential citation from Rotary International. The Battlefield club was recognized for its outstanding work, which included several service projects in the United States and a project in Romania.

As part of an international effort, Battlefield Interact partnered with a club in California to purchase sup-plies for an orphanage school in Romania.

Locally, they worked at Haymarket Earth Day and the Children's Wellness Festival. The Interact members also organized an Easter egg hunt for the children at

Securing Emergency Resources Through Volunteer Efforts Inc., which provides emergency housing and food for the disadvantaged.
