Saturday, April 4, 2009 kids 12 years and under are invited to cast their fishing lines in a stocked and roped-off section of the Rose River. This FREE outdoor event, called Heritage Day (formerly known as "Kids Day")is being sponsored by the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries, Graves Mountain Lodge, Inc. and the Rapidan Chapter of Trout Unlimited.
Young anglers may register from 8a.m. - 4p.m. at the Graves Sycamore Picnic Pavilon Each registrant will received a small gift. In addition, there will be hourly drawings for door prizes. Fishing starts at 9a.m.in front of Graves Mountain Lodge. Youngsters (12 and under) do not need a VA State fishing license. There is a catch limit of six fish per person.
Exhibits, demonstrations with hands-on learning experiences for kids, as well as adults will be provided by Virginia State University, VA Cooperative Extension Offices, American Chestnut Foundation, VA Department of Forestry, Jones'Auto Parts and Artic Cat ATVs,
and many others. FREE hay wagon shuttles rides will be available for farm tours.
