Defense contractor MTCSC, Inc. introduces the creation of the region’s first collaborative engineering and innovation center.
The MTCSC Center for Technology (C4T) will be an asset to defense contractors, the Department of Defense, federal agencies, commercial and academic institutions throughout the region.
C4T was designed and built to support a wide array of capabilities, including: information technology, research and development, production, test and evaluation, and technology demonstration. MTCSC invested approximately $4 million in the C4T facility.
"I want to congratulate MTCSC on its new Center for Technology facility. During these challenging economic times, it is especially encouraging to see businesses like MTCSC expanding and supporting the Stafford community and Marine Corps Systems Command," said Congressman Rob Wittman (R-VA).
“We wanted to provide a state-of-the-art technology center where other companies, academia, and government organizations can demonstrate their products as well as perform integration, not just come to view products that we provide,” explained Dave Camarata, President of MTCSC. The mission of the C4T is to provide a collaborative environment where industry, government and academia can work together to develop next generation solutions for defense and homeland security applications.
The C4T is designed to be an environment with the latest in Information Technology (IT) and Human System Interface (HSI) technology. Just completed, Phase I has an infrastructure that provides the ability to actively participate in or observe activities such as performance testing, network and application simulations, and proof-of-concept designs. Its collaborative and innovative workspace offers a place where multiple organizations can work together on projects and present new technologies for consideration.
The center is available to participating contractors, government agencies and academics around the clock, 365 days a year. This facility supports an IT bandwidth that is unparalleled in this area. Quality design and redundancy will ensure that support will be there when needed.
Phase I of the C4T spans more than 7,300 square feet, including a world-class Enterprise Data Center, an innovative technology demonstration environment, an engineering integration support area, research and development (R&D) area and facilities that adhere to National Industrial Security Program standards.
Upon completion of Phase II mid-year 2009, the C4T will also offer additional space for research and development, test and evaluation, project team and customer collaboration, as well as additional conference areas. C4T will extend to 23,000 square feet when completed.
Quantico Corporate Center, developed by the Silver Companies of Fredericksburg, is located along I-95, just 25 miles south of the Washington Capital Beltway and 600 yards from the South Gate of Quantico Marine Corps Base. The entire development will include one million square feet of premier Class A office space. Initial work on the third of seven buildings is underway.
“C4T’s location will be strategic and convenient to those serving homeland security and defense initiatives. BRAC 2005 created what many have called ‘the law enforcement capital of the world’ with five new federal investigative agencies moving to the Quantico Base,” said Timothy J. Baroody, Stafford Director of Economic Development. “These new facilities lie only about 1,000 yards from the Quantico Corporate Center.”
MTCSC was founded in 1997 by David B. Camarata. In 2002, MTCSC opened the Integrated Team Solutions Facility in Stafford to meet the need for a large-scale integration facility proximate to one of the company’s primary clients, Marine Corps System Command. In 2007, MTCSC opened a new 33,000 square foot facility in Quantico Corporate Center that consolidated East Coast corporate operations previously scattered among many locations within Stafford. MTCSC’s customer-focused, high-technology engineering approach has resulted in explosive corporate growth. For the past four consecutive years, MTCSC has been recognized as one of the “100 Fastest-Growing” privately held companies in San Diego, CA. Camarata was an Ernst & Young San Diego Entrepreneur of the Year Finalist in 2008.
The C4T is the latest investment by Camarata to bolster the future of MTCSC and to meet the needs of MTCSC customers, as well as its academic and industry partners.
