Local residents looking for a place to watch the inaugural proceedings with a crowd, might consider going to Trinity Episcopal Church.
The church will host a viewing of the historic occasion on a large screen television in the parish hall from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Tuesday.
'We had several requests from churchgoers to host such an event… and we decided to do it since we already had the big screen and the facilities," said the Rev. Stuart Schadt, pastor. He said this is the first time the church has hosted such an event.
"Some of the people wanted to be together for the historic occasion, and I'll be with them at the television viewing," said Schadt.
He said people are invited to drop in anytime to view the proceedings. Drinks and desserts will be provided free of charge. Those attending can bring their lunch. He said the hall could hold upwards of 100 people.
Merchants in Old Town without a television set in their shops are also invited to come.
Schadt has been pastor at the church at 9325 West St. for the past 19 years. He is assisted by associate pastor, the Rev. Vinnie Lainson
The church which has been a part of the Manassas community since 1872 currently has an enrollment of 300 families.
"The gathering will allow mingling among those in attendance on their observations of the proceedings," said Schadt.
Restaurants in the area will also have their television sets on for public viewing throughout the day.
