Area residents who want to watch Barack Obama’s inauguration with others, but don’t want to brave frigid temperatures and massive crowds to go to the ceremony in Washington, have a few options.
Several area churches and other public buildings will host inauguration viewing parties Tuesday.
So if you want to stay warm and watch the festivities on the big screen, try one of these locations:
- Trinity Episcopal Church, 9325 West St., Old Town Manassas, will open up its parish hall from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday to those who want to watch the inauguration. The ceremony will be shown on a big-screen television in the hall that seats about 100.
People are invited to bring a lunch. Free drinks and desserts will be provided.
For more information, call the church at 703-368-4231.
- Ebenezer Baptist Church will host a viewing party at its Family Life Center, 13020 Telegraph Road in Woodbridge. The free event begins at 10 a.m. Tuesday and will include a continental breakfast and a concert by contemporary violinist Daniel Davis. The inauguration ceremony will be shown in high definition on a jumbo screen.
The event is open to all and church officials recommend getting there early.
