Beta Sigma Phi International Sorority is a non-profit women’s organization that has hundreds of thousands of members in nations all over the world.
Members share a common goal of making the world a better place. The sorority motto is: “Life, Learning, and Friendship.”
The Manassas Xi Delta Gamma chapter provides scholarships to high school seniors who are continuing their education. Six scholarships were awarded this year.
- Cory Turner, from Osbourn High School, is an excellent student-athlete. He is a three-sport varsity letterman and a Peer Mentor for elementary students. He was selected to the Baltimore Orioles High School Scout Team and will attend Radford University.
- Diana Scheider is in the Teacher Cadet program at Osbourn High School and plans to major in education at Christopher Newport University. Her passion for horse riding has enabled her to win numerous competitions at horse shows around the state.
- Jonathan Sucher is a member of the National Honor Society and on the Osbourn High School Robotics team. He is on the varsity swim team and also in orchestra. He will study engineering at Virginia Tech.
- Ross Forry graduated from Battlefield High School and earned varsity letters in cross country and track. He visited Guatemala and has written about his experience in that country. He will attend Bucknell University.
- Chelsea Sergio, from Lake Braddock High School, volunteers for her church and participated in a mission trip to the Dominican Republic. She works with special needs children at her recreation center and will attend Abilene Christian University.
- Tyler Hamerla, from Groton-Dunstable Regional High School, will attend Wheaton College. He has collected works of his own photography on a Web site, and he enjoys filming for a local access television show called, “Around Town.”
