Police have arrested a man they said sexually assaulted a girl he approached at a bus stop.
Steveland Aubrey Joppy, 32, of 17050 Capri Lane, Apt. 104, in Woodbridge, was charged with sexual battery and contributing to the delinquency of a minor after police said he approached a 17-year-old at bus stops several times this week in Woodbridge.
It began Wednesday when the man stopped and briefly talked with the girl and then walked away, said Prince William police spokeswoman Erika Hernandez.
A few hours later, the girl was at another bus stop when the man drove up and again began talking to her.
The next morning, the man again approached the girl at a bus stop and this time offered her a ride to work. She agreed.
But instead of taking her to work, the man drove her to a park and sexually assaulted her, Hernandez said.
The victim was treated at a local hospital after the attack, said Hernandez.
Police did not say what led to Joppy's arrest.
He is being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.
