Neighborhood news: Take your pets to the Neuter Commuter

The Prince William SPCA is partnering with the Washington Humane Society's Spay/Neuter Clinic to bring affordable and convenient spay/neuter options to our community. The Neuter Commuter will travel to PWC once a month to pick up approximately 30 cats and dogs and take them to D.C. for the spay/ neuter procedures. Pets return the same evening and are picked up by their families.

Fee for either procedure is $50 for cats and $100 for dogs. Other low-cost services, such as rabies vaccina-tions, will also be offered at the time of registration. There is no income requirement so anyone can partici-pate, but space is limited. The van will run monthly starting July 15; however the frequency of the service will be expanded if the need increases. Future confirmed dates are Aug. 12 and Sept. 16.

The Coles VFD will serve as pick-up and drop-off location for the spay/neuter transport program. Local transportation assistance is being offered by the Doodlebug Dog Walker, which provides pet taxi services. Animals must be dropped off by 5:30 a.m. on the day of surgery and picked up at 7 p.m. For more informa-tion, visit www.pwspca.org

Business meeting

The Northern Virginia Charter Chapter of the American Business Women's Association will hold its monthly business meeting and networking session on July 16 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Car-rabba's Italian Grill restaurant, 13870 Foulger Square. Cost for the lunch is $23 for members and $28 for non-members. Prospective members welcome. The program, "The Eyes Have It," will be presented by Melissa St. Clair, owner/independent contractor, paper chaser and will provide attendees with an overview of the visual aspects of written correspondence.

Beta Tau

Beta Tau, the Woodbridge chapter of ESA International, a women's service organization providing support for local, state and national charities, will hold its monthly business meeting and luncheon on July 13 at noon. For more information, contact membership director Jane Shamblin at 540-899-9876.

Basketball camp

Veterans Memorial Park is offering a basketball camp for children ages 7 to 14. The camp is designed for players of all abilities. Concentration will be on properly developing all the key fundamentals of basketball. Players will learn and practice at least four key fundamentals every day. Flea market

The flea market at Cokesbury UMC continues each Saturday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Set-up is first-come, first-served, and has had a very good attendance, both by vendors and shoppers. Personality colors

Barbara Reese of BR Associates will present a workshop from her teen leadership program on July 21 at 2 p.m. at the Potomac Community Library. Learn more about yourself and how you relate to others with a personality colors test and discuss the results. Students entering the sixth through 12th grades can register in person or by phone beginning July 14. Register early as the group is limited to 30 participants. This program is funded by the Friends of Potomac Library.

Once upon a time

A live theatrical production by Bright Star Children's Theatre celebrating reading, comedy, and fairy tales will be presented by two performers with help from audience members. Don't miss the hilari-ous adaptations of "Cinderella" and "Jack and the Beanstalk," starring a giant that rises over the set, that will have all who attend rolling in the aisles. The fun begins at 3 p.m. on July 16 for students entering kindergarten or older at Chinn Park Regional Library. Free tickets available.
