Neighborhood news: Free summer concerts continue in Haymarket

Haymarket continues its free summer concert series on the police department front lawn.

On Saturday at 4:30 p.m., come hear Bad Luck, a Haymarket-based band specializing in a blend of rock, blues, country and punk.

Evening concerts run from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The next evening concert, on Saturday, will feature Change Order, playing country rock.

On Aug. 15, plan to hear the Kuzens perform a mix of rock, funk and jazz.

Please bring a non-perishable food item to contribute to the Haymarket Food Bank and Food Pantry.

Lawn chairs are recommended and children are welcome. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Bull Run Networking Group helps area businesses grow

Bull Run Networking Group members say they are "a different kind of networking group," offering structure, laughter, camaraderie, lead exchanges, presentations and assistance making businesses grow.

The club has added some new partners including Barbara Bowling, Nokesville Print & Copy; Judy Broyles, Fair-view Home Inspections LLC; Dave Powers, Direct Connect; Louisa Murray, Money Mailer; Shadow Stiles, Wes-Cond Construction; Steven Spitz, Allied Home Mortgage; Pam McGroarty, Landscape & Design Center; Lana Schinnerer, Re/Max Regency; Kearney Shaw, QuixShaw International; Marilyn Shaw, QuixShaw International; and Jennifer Hoskins, Two Dots Marketing.

The group will meet Tuesday from 8:45 to 10 a.m. The speaker for this networking meeting will be Lana Schin-nerer, Re/Max Regency.

That evening from 5:30 to 7 p.m., the group will hold a seminar at Pizzeria Uno's, Atlas Walk, Gainesville. The discussion will be around relationship building with fellow networkers.

It will meet July 28 from 8:45 to 10 a.m. The speaker for this networking meeting will be Kearney Shaw, QuixShaw International.

The cost for membership is $45 every six months. Visitors are always welcome at weekly meetings.

Bull Run Conservancy offering monthly summer programs

The first Wednesday of every month, the Bull Run Mountains Conservancy offers "Hike with a Natural-ist" from 9 a.m. to noon. The hike is designed for members and non-members who don't like to hike alone and who want to discover flora and fauna of the Bull Run Mountains. This program is free; all are welcome.

The second Wednesday of every month from 2 to 4 p.m., enjoy a woodland tea party with freshly brewed herbal tea and light fare. Participants take a short hike and learn about a new variety of local flora and its medicinal values. Participants then brew and drink tea made from the plants collected. Registration is required. Members pay $10, non-members, $15.
