Area jurisdictions to get share of transportation funding

Haymarket, Quantico and Prince William County will be getting $6.5 million in federal stimulus funds for local transportation projects.

Gov. Timothy M. Kaine's office announced Monday that $1 billion from the American Restoration and Recovery Act will be allocated to projects across the commonwealth.

Local projects include $5.8 million for repaving of sections of U.S. 1, Va. 28, U.S. 15, U.S. 29, Va. 55 and Va. 234 in Prince William County; $500,000 for improvements to the Marine Corps Heritage Trail in Quantico and $145,000 for the trolley project in the Haymarket.
