The Prince William County Police Department will observe the annual "National Night Out" at the Connaughton Community Plaza adjacent to the James J. McCoart Administration Building, 1 County Complex Court, on Saturday from 1:30 to 5:30 p.m.

Features include police and fire exhibits and McGruff the Crime Dog, the Animal Shelter petting zoo, government agencies, local clubs, civic groups and businesses.

There will be demonstrations, food and games as well as information tables and giveaways for the entire fam-ily.

National Night Out, coordinated by the police's Crime Prevention Unit, is designed to help create healthy neighborhoods block by block, help neighbors to know one another, celebrate community and take steps to make neighborhoods safer for all residents.

National Night Out helps form good relationships between the community and the Police Department. Neighborhood Watch programs, and National Night Out, help to create a neighborhood network to prevent crime and enhance the quality of life in the county.

If you can't join us at the Connaughton Community Plaza on Saturday, county residents are encouraged to lock their doors, turn on outdoor lights and spend the evening of Aug. 4 outside with their neighbors and law en-forcement as a symbol that they care about their neighborhoods.

To learn more, call the Crime Prevention Unit at 703-792-7270.
