Dear Lane Ranger,
I understand there is construction happening on Old Bridge Road in Lake Ridge, between Colby Drive and Forest Hill Road.
As part of the construction the speed limit on the road has been reduced from 45 mph to 35 mph.
Have police increased their presence on the road during the construction, and in light of a crash there which killed a 16-year-old girl earlier this year?
Also, I don't see a sign that tells drivers where they can resume the 45 mph speed limit after they clear the construction zone. Is there one?

Lake Ridge
Dear Linda,
I have spent a lot of time writing about this section of road since the death of the 16-year-old who died there in the January car crash.
The Virginia Department of Transportation received money and approval to improve the road in 2004. The project has been in a design phase since that time, said VDOT spokesman Mike Salmon, earlier this year.
I sent your question to Salmon and he said the speed limit between Old Forest Hill Road and Colby Drive has not been reduced.
The transportation agency has placed yellow warning signs along the stretch of road which encourage drivers to travel at 35 mph through that portion of Old Bridge Road.
If drivers still choose to travel the 45 mph speed limit, police will not give them a speeding ticket, said Salmon.
But road improvements will not solve the entire problem, said Prince William County police spokeswoman Erika Hernandez.
Drivers should obey the posted speed limit in the area and not exceed the 45 mph speed, said Hernandez.
Drivers should also slow down during heavy traffic and adverse weather conditions, she said.
"Working together, police and drivers can minimize problems and improve safety," said Hernan-dez.
Police are also working in that area to issue traffic summonses to people who do not follow the law, she added.
