Three men have pleaded guilty in federal court to a string of armored car robberies in Prince William and Fairfax counties.

Carlic Darnell Brown, 25, of Lake Ridge, pleaded guilty Wednesday at U.S. District Court in Alexandria to using a firearm in two armed heists, officials from the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

Christopher Blakeney, 21, also of Lake Ridge, pleaded guilty May 13 to using a firearm in two armed robberies.

Michael Blakeney, 20, of New York, pleaded guilty May 6 to using a firearm in one of the robberies.

Michael Blakeney and Christopher Blakeney are cousins.

According to court documents, Brown and Christopher Blakeney admitted their involvement in three armored car robberies: one on April 4, 2007 near a Wachovia ATM in Lorton where they stole $80,000, one on Feb. 1, 2008 near a Navy Federal Credit Union ATM in Fairfax where they stole $120,000 and one on April 1 near a Bank Of America ATM in the 1700 block of Old Bridge Road in Lake Ridge where they stole $160,000.

Michael Blakeney only admitted his involvement in the April 1 robbery, prosecutors said. He told police his cousin had called him to come down from New York and help with the robbery.

In all three cases, the men robbed a Loomis armored car employee who was loading an ATM with money, prosecutors said.

According to an affidavit on file at the U.S. District Court in Alexandria, the trio approached a Loomis employee who was refilling an ATM at the Bank of America on Old Bridge Road at about 1 p.m. April 1.

All three men were carrying guns, and wearing black clothing and black and white skull masks.

One of the men grabbed a bag of money that was sitting on the ground in front of the ATM while the other two men pointed guns at the Loomis employee, the affidavit states.

The men then ran away from the bank and into a nearby wooded area, taking a bag filled with about $160,000.

Witnesses later reported seeing a suspicious vehicle that led police to find and arrest the three men.

Brown faces 32 years to life in prison when he is sentenced Aug. 28.

Christopher Blakeney is set to be sentenced Aug. 7 and faces 32 years to life in prison.

Michael Blakeney faces seven years to life in prison when he is sentenced July 17.
