Lane Ranger: Manassas gets new lights, kinks

»  Comments | Post a Comment

Dear Lane Ranger:

What is with the City of Manassas and all the new traffic lights again? They have installed new lights at the shopping center where the new Harris Teeter is going across from the Davis Ford Crossing shopping center. They installed one at Hastings Drive and another on Fairview Avenue. And, of course, the one on Fairview is out of sync compared to the signal at Prince William Parkway and Liberia Avenue. Why can't the lights be better synched to fit the demands of traffic on the roads?

Michelle:

We contacted the Mike Salmon at the Virginia Department of Transportation in reference to your question, and he recognized there was a problem there. Salmon said there are kinks still being worked out with the signal, especially when it comes to synching up the other nearby traffic signal to it. Once control of the signal light is turned over from the developer to Manassas, things should improve, Salmon said.
