Prince William Regional Chamber goes virtual

New technology is being adopted by the Prince William Regional Chamber of Commerce.

The organization is now offering its members another way to stay connected to important business information and to one another, with pages on three social media sitesTwitter, Linkedin and Facebook.

“One of the great things about these sites is that they allow for two-way communication,” said Chamber president Laurie Wieder. “This is not just the chamber sending out information, rather, this is members sharing ideas, networking online and having direct input in chamber programming.”

Wieder said that each of the sites serves a different purpose, and that members can receive different benefits from using each.

“For instance, we are using Twitter to provide quick business tips and updates on Chamber activities, while Linkedin is more member-driven, bringing a diverse set of business people together to share ideas and solutions,” said Wieder.

Acknowledging that getting started in social media can seem daunting, Wieder said, “That’s why we created a ‘Chamber 2.0’ page on our Web site. It has step-by-step instructions on staring your own page, best practices for using social media in your business and links to each of our social media pages. The chamber can be a resource as businesses embrace this new technology.”

To access the sites of the chamber, visit www.RegionalChamber.org and click the Chamber 2.0 link.
