The Elizabeth McIntosh Hammill Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revo-lution, of Manassas, recently hosted the annual awards tea ceremony for Good Citizens Award winners and JROTC award winners from eight area high schools and three JROTC units.
The tea was held at Bull Run Library with attendance by the award winners, parents, school counselors, ROTC commanders and chapter members.
The high school award winners received a Good Citizens Award Medal and certificate, an American Flag and a $50 bond.
The JROTC winners received the JROTC Bronze Medal and certificate, an American Flag and a $50 bond.
Before receiving the awards, each student read his essay titled "Our American Heritage and Our Responsibility to Preserve It," and also gave a brief summary of their future college and career plans.
Chapter Regent Diane Cichocki presented the Good Citizens Award to Lisa Hill, Seton School; Austin Butler, Battlefield High School; Caitlin O'Neill, Manassas Park High School; Erin VanBuskirk, Stonewall Jackson High School; Kaitlyn Armstrong, Osbourn High School, Lindsey Tyler, Osbourn Park High School; Sarah Earman, Brentsville District High School; Amber Strickland, Emmanuel Christian School; and the JROTC Award to Kelsey Dees, Osbourn Park High School; Joseph Puglise, Stonewall Jackson High School; and, Krista Harbold, Battlefield High School.
