Ms. Fry poses an excellent question regarding the Democratic candidate for office, Mr. Torian, and the non-availability of information regarding his educational or military background (“What is Torian’s
background,” News & Messenger, June 21).
Perhaps the answer lies with the News & Messenger in their lack of coverage of not only Torian and his opponent Mr. Lopez, but others who seek elected office, as well. Or, it could be the apathy
displayed by the voting public. For example, turnout for the recent Democratic primary held earlier in the month was reportedly pegged at less than four-percent. They just don’t care.
There may be another explanation — I make reference to OUR current president who, after many investigations regarding his citizenship — was he really born in Hawaii? — has still refused to produce
documentation that would eliminate the question. In addition, many continue to question his legal status because of his parents’ foreign national ties.
It could be however, that liberals are hell bent on disregarding the issue of transparency when it comes to informing the public. I have great trust in the voting public and their ability to look beyond the
window dressing and evaluate one of the many traits we all consider important for our elected officials — that of character.
