Heritage Hunt Hits The Trifecta Winning Humanitarian of the Year, Website of The Year and Newsletter of the Year In Awards Show Presented By Washington Metropolitan Chapter Community Associations Institute

Gainesville, VA--- Heritage Hunt, a Lennar community in Gainesville, Virginia won three awards at the 2008 Community Association Of The Year Contest. The event, hosted by Washington Metropolitan Chapter Community Associations Institute (WMCCAI) recognizes the best community associations in the Washington, D.C. area.

Lennar’s Heritage Hunt community received first place in the categories of Website of the Year, Newsletter of the Year and the coveted Humanitarian of the Year award.

“We are thrilled beyond belief,” said Brenda Sharp, director of sales and marketing for Lennar’s Virginia division. “ The residents of Heritage Hunt are to be praised for their exceptional charity and community outreach efforts. We are so proud to have received this incredible honor,” Sharp said.

In order to win the Humanitarian of the Year award, the Heritage Hunt association was judged on outstanding service to the community in areas of community service, charitable works, environmental service and political activism.

“Heritage Hunt is a caring, giving community,” said Mike George, president of the Heritage Hunt Homeowners Association. “Our residents organize and sponsor 10 charitable events every year; commit hundreds of hours of volunteer service and contribute monetary support to many charitable activities and events.”

Each year, Heritage Hunt organizes a “Charity Classic” comprised of three events: a five mile walk/run to support cancer survivors and cancer research, a casino night and live auction, and a golf tournament held at the community.

“Due to the success of these endeavors, we have contributed $775,000 over the past nine years to the American Cancer Society, the Lombardi Cancer Center at Georgetown University, and the Cancer Center at Lake Manassas. Our goal is to exceed $1,000,000 by next year,” George said.

And the charity efforts don’t stop there…The Heritage Hunt women’s organization comprised of 300 residents raised over $8,000 and donated the funds to 12 human services and charitable organizations throughout Prince William County. Another group organized by the Heritage Hunt community is the “Blanket Stitchers”. Since 2001 this group of women have donated over 7,200 blankets to traumatized children through the national “Project Linus” program along with providing blankets to the local abused women’s shelter, Hospice Center and the Sudley Manor Assisted Living Center. The “Blanket Stitchers” have also given blankets to the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) for children who have lost a loved one in Iraq or Afghanistan.

“It is impossible to list all the agencies in which Heritage Hunt residents volunteer their time or donate money. We do anything we can to help the community at large and are grateful that we have the opportunity to do so,” George said.

The Humanitarian of the Year, Website of the Year and Newsletter of the Year awards will be presented to Heritage Hunt at the WMCCAI Conference and Expo on Saturday, March 28, at the Washington Convention Center.
