Dear Lane Ranger:
I do not understand what is going on with Old Bridge Road in Lake Ridge.
Every morning the past month and a half it has taken me 40 minutes or longer to get two miles? I leave my house on Oakwood Drive in Lake Ridge at 7:20 a.m. and have to wait through two to three light cycles to get to Old Bridge Road; and once on the road, it's a parking lot all the way down to Route 123.
I even tried using Occoquan Road in Woodbridge, but that backs up now all the way to Old Bridge Road.
It's 8 a.m. by the time I make it to Route 123.
The scenario is the same during the evening commute, only in reverse.
Traffic is typically backed up from Route 123 all the way down Old Bridge Road, as far as the eye can see.
Are the traffic lights out of sequence on Old Bridge Road? Is it the lack of roads?
Or is everyone in Lake Ridge leaving their house at the exact same time?
T. Cottingham

Dear Ms. Cottingham:
We took your question to Mike Salmon at the Virginia Department of Transportation and he said drivers heading east toward Va. 123 in the mornings are not being disrupted by a project to widen the shoulders of Old Bridge Road and extend its guardrails, because the project is on westbound side of the road.
"We did check the timing of the traffic signals today, May 4, and they were all correct. VDOT has not changed those timings since September 08," stated Salmon.
Salmon said crews will continue to monitor the road for added congestion, something he added VDOT has seen on local neighborhood roads as of late.
