A Dale City woman and a Dumfries man were arrested Monday by Dumfries Police in connection with a street fight and reports of shots fired in a neighborhood outside of the town.

Neighbors of the Forest Park Town House community off of Van Buren Road called Prince William County police about 5:30 p.m. Monday complaining about a street fight in the area of Mine Road and Acadia Drive.

When officers arrived, they found that the crowd had dispersed. The neighbors, however, had given police brief descriptions of the two vehicles that the people fled in, said Dumfries Police Chief Calvin Johnson.

While Prince William police were investigating the scene, Dumfries police set up a perimeter of the area.

Dumfries Police Officer Dana Shields spotted the two vehicles described by the neighbors in a driveway on Mine Road within the town limits.

“There were eight people in the vehicles,” Johnson said. “They were not in a position to leave because [Shields] pulled in the driveway and the vehicles were blocked. They couldn’t do anything as he exited his vehicle.”

Shields got the people out of the vehicles and on the ground while he waited for back-up. “Three of them jumped up and took off while he was trying to secure all eight people,” Johnson said.

Dumfries police found a shotgun and ammunition in one of the vehicles.

“They attempted to cover it with a sweatshirt but you could clearly see the barrel of the shotgun protruding out of the sweatshirt,” Johnson said. “There also was ammunition on the seat itself.”

Mabinty Bangura, 18, 5700 Ridgedale Drive, Dale City, the driver of one of the vehicles, was charged with possession of a concealed weapon and possession of a stolen weapon. She is being held without bond at the Prince William/Manassas regional jail.

Prince William police believe the shotgun that was taken from a Lake Ridge residence, Johnson said.

Also arrested was Deshaun Marcus Stoney, 20, 4112 LaMaurice Loop, Dumfries. He was charged with three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He also was taken to the regional jail under a $1,500 secured bond.

While three of the eight people involved fled, the other three in the vehicles were juveniles. They were later released to the custody of their parents, Johnson said.
