Saturday, Montclair residents of all ages are needed to volunteer for the Annual Montclair Beautification Day. The Landscape and Facilities Management Committee will start registration at 8:30 a.m. at Dolphin Beach. Volunteers will be assigned to different projects at this time. All volunteers will receive a free lunch.

Forest Park Bruin Boosters Flea Market

Help support the band music programs at Forest Park by joining the Forest Park Bruin Band Boosters at their Spring Flea Market in the Forest Park High School parking lot this Saturday from 7 to 11 a.m. They also invite you to see the fruit of their efforts, made possible by community support, at the Spring Band Concert on May 20 at 7 p.m. in the Forest Park auditorium.

thank you for yard sale

The members of the FCE Club wish to thank all who participated in their spring yard sale, making it a tremendous success. A special thanks to the vendors who rented spaces, without you none of this is possible. Thank yous also go out to the manager of the Lake Montclair Shopping Center Bloom for the donation of ice and to club members' husbands for their assistance.

Montclair Lions Spring Classic '09 wrapup

The Montclair Lions Club wishes to thank the Montclair community for your contributions, your gifts and especially your participation in their Spring Classic '09 charity Texas hold'em benefit for Mackenzie Lemn. They especially want to thank Chief Baum and the Dumfries Fire & Rescue Squad 3R for the use of their excellent facility.

By way of a wrapup, the Spring Classic '09 Texas Hold'em tournament was SOLD OUT. One hundred thirty three players competed for over $4,000 in prizes, including 14 table sponsors, 23 individual cash and prize donations, the largest being a $1,000 donation from Azalea Charities. The NET from this event was over $9,000.

The tournament champion was Montclair Lion Danny Price, who at 9 p.m. bested the second-place finisher, Arthur Lambros. The winner of the new Gunslinger award was also the seventh-place finisher, Kent Henshaw.

The Last Woman Standing prize went to the third-place finisher, Lora Francisco.

Montclair Ladies Golf

The MLGA Member-Member (6-6-6) fun tournament was played with a two-lady team format. Each MLGA member teamed up with another MLGA member. This was a full handicap stroke play event. The first six holes played were Captain's Choice; the second six were Best Ball and the last six were Alternating Shots. The overall winners were: First place, Sue Athas and Doreen Buttgerat (55); Second place,Theresa Mandrgoc and Kathy Epperson (57); and third place to Teresa Wilks and Chong Kuterbach (58).

The weather cooperated and the two-day Spring Handicap Tournament was able to be completed. Congratulations to: Bernie Drohan (153) and runner-up Carol Payne (159- with match of cards).
