Teens' passes give unlimited access on PRTC buses

Teenagers looking for a quick ride won’t have to bug mom and dad this summer.

OmniLink, the local bus service in Prince William County, Manassas and Manassas Park, begins selling their teen summer bus passes today.

The pass costs $25 and allows a rider unlimited access on all OmniLink buses and the Cross-County Connector bus, which runs from Woodbridge to Manassas.

The passes can be used from June 1 to Sept. 5, said Potomac and Rappahannock Transportation Commission spokeswoman Christine Rodrigo.

“PRTC’s OmniLink teen summer pass, the best deal of the summer, is back by popular demand,” stated Rodrigo in a press release.

The passes will be sold at the PRTC Transit Center at the corner of Potomac Mills and Telegraph roads in Woodbridge, weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Passes will also be sold in the Manassas area at a table near the Target store inside the Manassas Mall, stated Rodrigo.

Teenagers are encouraged to bring some form of photo ID when they purchase the pass.

An OmniLink sales associate will apply a sticker to the ID as proof of purchasing the pass.

Riders will then be asked to show their photo ID to the bus driver, with the OmniLink sticker on it, to board the bus.

Teens without their own photo ID card will be issued an OmniLink card with the sticker attached, which they can then use to board the bus, stated Rodrigo.

As an added bonus, Rodrigo said, the pass is also good for one-dollar off Potomac Nationals Friday night home games.

That discount begins on June 5, stated Rodrigo.

OmniLink operates two local bus routes Monday through Friday in the Manassas area — one that serves Manassas and the other which serves Manassas Park.

Monday through Saturday, OmniLink operates five local bus routes in eastern Prince William County.

Those routes include Dale City, Dumfries, Lake Ridge, Quantico, the Route 1 Corridor and Woodbridge.

The Cross-County Connector bus runs from the PRTC Transit Center in Woodbridge to the Manassas Mall, Monday through Friday.
