A fire has displaced six people from their Nokesville home.

Fire and rescue crews from across Prince William County, Manassas and Manassas Park were called just after 2 p.m. Wednesday to 13005 Bristow Road.

Initial reports from rescue crews said there was heavy black smoke coming from the home.

Three adults and three children were standing in their front yard when rescue crews arrived. A fire raged in an electrical box in the basement of their home, said Prince William Fire and Rescue spokesman Randy Earl.

Though the fire had been extinguished, fire investigators remained on the scene of the 2.7 acre, $266,000 home, for more than two hours after they arrived.

“Investigators are looking into what caused the blaze, which right now we think the cause may be electrical,” said Earl.

Initial reports made by fire officials first on the scene claimed there was heavy smoke billowing from the house.

Earl said the Prince William chapter of Red Cross has stepped in and has provided a place for the family to sleep.
