Gainesville man faces variety of charges

A Gainesville man was charged with resisting arrest while being intoxicated while at a Manassas area hotel.

Michael Scott Collins, 19, of 6815 General Lafayette Way, was arrested around 9 a.m. Sunday at the hotel in the 10800 block of Balls Ford Road, said Prince William police spokeswoman Erika Hernandez.

Collins was initially arrested for public intoxication but then resisted officers when they tried to take him into custody.

Once in custody police searched him and found cocaine, said Hernandez. Collins was also charged with possession with the intent to distribute cocaine. He was held on a $7,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court July 7.

71-year-old charged with throwing glass at man

A 52-year-old Denver man suffered a cut between the eyes Sunday and a 71-year-old man has been charged with wounding him.

Police were called to investigate a fight between the two men after the 71-year-old threw a drinking glass that hit the victim on the forehead, said Prince William police spokeswoman Erika Hernandez.

Eugene Franklin Hobart, of 4501 Martinwood Drive in Haymarket, was arrested and held on a $5,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court June 18.

The victim suffered minor injures.

Girl assaulted at Youth For Tomorrow in Bristow

A 16-year-old girl attacked a 15-year-old girl during an argument Sunday, police said. Both teens live at the Youth For Tomorrow behavior correctional center in Bristow.

The victim was punched and kicked all over her body, and was treated at a local hospital for her injuries, said Prince William police spokeswoman Erika Hernandez.

The 16-year-old was taken to the Prince William County Juvenile Detention Center. She is scheduled to appear in Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court.

Man robbed at knifepoint

A 51-year-old man said he was robbed at knifepoint just after midnight Saturday in the area of Williamson Boulevard and Stonehouse Road near Manassas.

One man grabbed him from behind and held his arms while another threatened him with a knife and demanded cash, said Prince William police spokeswoman Erika Hernandez.

The two men made off with an undisclosed amount of cash. They are described as Hispanic, between 20 and 30 years old. Both are approximately 5 feet 11 inches tall with heavy builds and black hair.

The victim was not injured.

Driver threatened with gun near Linton Hall Rd.

A 36-year-old Manassas woman said a driver flashed a handgun at her May 14 when he pulled in front of her moving car and attempted to cut her off.

The woman was traveling north on U.S. 29 near Linton Hall Road around 11 a.m. when he attempted to cut her off.

She did not let the man get in front of her and when they pulled side by side at the next traffic light, the man began yelling at her, said Prince William police spokeswoman Erika Hernandez.

The woman told the man that she would call the police and when she did, the man pulled out a black handgun, said Hernandez.

No one was injured.

The driver was described as black, between 20 and 25 years old, and was driving a blue sedan.
