» Friday, 6 to 9 p.m. Benefit concert with local bands Black Ties, Rising Legacy, Shamrock 19 and My August Alibi at Merchant Park, Dumfries. The concert is organized by Josh Watson of Boy Scout Troop 1553 for his Eagle Scout Project. There is no set admission price but guest will be asked to make a donation. Proceeds will be used to buy mosquito netting to ship to Uganda.

» Friday, the second annual “Get Green, Get Heard” takes place at Forest Park High School where students and staff rides bikes, scooters or skateboard instead of driving to school in order to save energy.

» Saturday, 10 a.m. and 2 p.m., Rock’n the Forest, a 15-minute journey through 140 million years of forest history at Prince William Forest Park.

» Saturday, 7:30 to 9 a.m., Early Birders Bird Walk at Prince William Forest Park.

» Saturday, 10:30 a.m., Cabin Branch Mine Tour at Prince William Forest Park.

» Sunday, Weems-Botts Museum in Dumfries has extended its hours for the summer. The museum will be open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays.

» Tuesday, 6:30 p.m., check-in, 7:30 p.m. meeting, Southbridge on the Potomac holds its annual meeting.

» Wednesday, 6 p.m., Business people are invited by the Dumfries Business Association to meet with U.S. Rep. Rob Wittman, R-Va., in the Dumfries Town Council Chambers to discuss their concerns.

» May 28, 5:30 p.m. reception with dinner and presentation at 6:30 p.m. The Marine Corps Heritage Foundation will host a panel discussion with four Marines on the Battle of Fallujah at the National Museum of the Marine Corps. Majors Kevin Trimble, Chris Griffin, Tom Tennant and Brett Clark will present a detailed account of the planning and execution of Operation Phantom Fury. The Battle marked the first time U.S. forces executed a classic combined arms attack in an urban environment since the Korean War. Tickets for the reception, dinner and discussion are $35 and can be reserved by contacting Pam Dodson at Dodson@marineheritage.org or 703-649-2350. Tickets are limited.
