Neighborhood News: Celebrate Montclair's 40th anniversary

Montclair is turning 40 and residents are invited to join the celebration. Different events will be Monday through Thursday leading up to Montclair Day on June 6. Monday is the deadline to submit a mural or artwork to replace the 30th Anniversary Blanket currently displayed in the MPOA building lobby. Dimensions of the submission should be 5 feet by 5 feet and no more than 2 inches thick.

The Montclair Scavenger Hunt will be held Tuesday.

Wednesday at 5 p.m. is the deadline for the 40th Anniversary Slogan submissions. Floored on Empty will play a concert at Dolphin Beach on Wednesday beginning at 7:30 p.m. Grab your beach chairs and your neighbors and head to the beach to hear this local band perform a variety of covers and original songs.

PNC Bank will host a Wine Tasting and Concert at Dolphin Beach on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. Residents 21 and older are invited to sample local wines and enjoy a concert by the Prince William Brass Quintet.

2009-10 recreation tags are required for admission to all events.

Montclair Day Regatta

Montclair neighbors are invited to join the Montclair Day Regatta on June 6. There will be two class distinctions for this race: Catamaran Multi-Hull and Standard Mono-Hull. The race will begin at West Beach at 2 p.m., with prizes awarded at 4 p.m. at Dolphin Beach.

Montclair Ladies Golf

The MLGA Member/Guest Tournament will be held June 22 and 23.

First United Yard Sale

The Annual Yard Sale at First United Presbyterian Church of Dale City will be held Saturday from 6 a.m. to noon. This year the proceeds will benefit the Summer Youth Mission Team that will go to New Orleans in June to help with clean up and rebuilding efforts for those still suffering from the remnants of Katrina.

MPOA, sub-associations

The following committees will meet at the MPOA building: Monday, Community Events, 7:30 p.m.; Safety, 7 p.m. and Tuesday, Covenants, 7 p.m.

The following sub-association will hold a meeting next week: Thursday, Southlake Recreation, 7 p.m. at the Southlake Recreation Center.
