I have lived in Prince William County for nearly 30 years, and for the first time, I am truly embarrassed for my hometown.
People whine and complain about traffic all the time, but most refuse to go to the polls and vote. Of the ones that do, you just blindly re-elect the status quo.
Take the 13th district. Bob Marshall, the most anti-transportation delegate this region has, not only is he unwilling to fund transportation improvements himself, but he does not want anyone else to do so.
Meanwhile, in the 51st district, Paul Nichols, a great public servant who made transportation his number one cause in his two years in Richmond, loses to a man who has no transportation plan
whatsoever. What is wrong with this picture?
It means one thing: Prince William County had a golden opportunity to elect leaders who will fight to unclog our gridlock, and failed. I do not want to hear anymore complaining about being stuck in traffic.
