Seniors Woodbridge: Learn how to cope with 'turkeys'

Vicki Graham, director of Action in the Community Through Service (ACTS) Helpline, plans for a lively discussion titled "The Turkeys You Know and Have Learned to Love" on Nov. 17 at 11 a.m.

The talk focuses on using the holidays to enhance relationships with family and friends. The holidays can be a stressful time for some as families and friends get together, however, with a positive outlook and tips from Ms. Graham, you'll be ready to enjoy the holidays.

Safe driving class

There will be a safe driving class Nov. 17 and 18 at 10 a.m. The class consists of eight hours of classroom instruction. Upon completion, you may submit your certification to your insurance company. Most insurance companies offer a discount on your auto insurance upon completion of the class. Class size is limited so, if you are interested, you may sign up now at the reception desk. A check for $12 (AARP members) or $14 (non-members), payable to AARP, will hold your reservation for the class.

Game day

As a tribute to football season, we're hosting a special "Game Day" lunch and celebration o Nov. 20.

Come dressed to salute your favorite football team, enjoy a special "Game Day" lunch and be ready for a trivia contest (with valuable prizes!). We'll follow this up with the movie "Remember the Titans" while we enjoy some popcorn and punch.

'Oldies but Goodies'

The "Oldies but Goodies" Woodbridge Senior Center Line Dancers, directed by Ethel Gorham, performed at Westminster at Lake Ridge on Nov. 5. Everyone had a really good time.

Their next performance will be held on Nov.r 17 at Victoria Park Woods at Victoria Park.

Thanksgiving dinner

You are cordially invited to join your friends for our traditional Thanksgiving dinner Nov. 19 at noon.

Joe Swetman will provide entertainment and $1 will hold your reservation. Wonderful food will be prepared and served buffet style in the multipurpose room of the senior center. Be sure to stop at the reception desk to make your reservation early.

We will be assigning tables by number for the dinner so that everyone can be assured that they have a seat, and you won't have to "run" to save a table for you and your friends. We'll remind you as you arrive of your table assignment. Joe Swetman will provide wonderful background piano music for us, so join us in celebrating!

12 p.m. Thanksgiving dinner, bridge, quilting, line dancing.

There will be a Thanksgiving luncheon.

Friday -- Lifetime Fitness, jewelry class, Mason Dixon porcelain artists at 10 a.m. Sing-a-long with Angel at 10:30 a.m., "Game Day" at 12:30 p.m. Lunch -- Game Day menu.
