Bridgette Moffett of Gar-Field Senior High School was awarded a full scholarship to attend the 27th An-nual Entrepreneurship Education FORUM in Norfolk last week.
This scholarship was awarded for the business teacher's leadership and creativity in bringing entre-preneurship education to the schools.
A commemorative plaque was presented to Moffett that read: "Entrepreneurship 101 Award" For outstanding Leadership in the Field of Business Creativity and Entrepreneurship.
The Consortium for Entrepreneurship Education, which sponsors the Annual Entrepreneurship Education FORUM, is a national membership association of 95 local, state, and national organizations that advocate entrepreneurship education as a lifelong learning process and provide programs for youth and adults. The conference in Norfolk brought over 300 teachers together to share program ideas and establish nationwide networks.
The Consortium recently announced the fourth annual National Entrepreneurship Week will be Feb. 20-27. The theme is "Entrepreneurial Literacy Empowers Everyone."
Teachers, parents, students and entrepreneurs nationwide conducted activities to earn their "Genius" award by sharing their ideas on how entrepreneurship really works. To learn more about National Entrepreneurship Week visit our Web site at www.NationalEWeek.org.
In recognition of the need for teachers to have the opportunities for professional development in teaching entrepreneurship, teacher scholarships were sponsored by the Coleman Foundation, the Appalachian Re-gional Commission, the Chicagoland Entrepreneurial Center, JA, NFIB-YEF, and the Burton Morgan Foundation.
